During the first week in September I was invited to the Artistry Youth XTend launch, which took place at the quaint Clico Boutique Hotel in Rosebank.
Weeks before the event, we were asked to define timeless beauty, so when we got to the venue, artists were filling in the drawings they began of us, based on our answers, and a little bit of online stalking :). I chose the northern lights, and I was so amazed with what Kim Bussiahn came up with. You can see the final picture here.
Since I’m not big on makeup, I hadn’t heard of the Artistry brand before; it is one of the world’s top five largest selling premium skincare brands (according to Euromonitor International Limited 2013).
The range launched, called Youth XTend, is an anti-aging collection from Amway South Africa that is suitable for women of all ages, and skin types (dry, oily, normal). So good for me because I don’t use anything, and I really need to start (turning 30 is no joke!).
Amway’s scientific formula helps to reprogram skin cells to act and look younger. I’m not going to use jargon to explain this, but the Youth Xtend range includes proteins like collagen and sirtuin, which keeps your skin youthful. Lab tests done on the Youth Xtend range showed an increase of these proteins by up to 280%. So, after a week of use, wrinkles and fine lines were reduced.
The Youth XTend range consists of 8 skincare products, and 16 different shades of foundation – great for South African women. The skin care range consists of: rich cleansing foam, softening lotion, protecting lotion, enriching lotion, protecting cream, enriching cream, serum concentrate and enriching eye cream.
At the event, we got to try some of the serum concentrate. In my experience serums leave a sticky residue behind, but the Artistry range did not. I tried it at the back of my hand, and my skin felt soft; it also has a nice smell to it. This is one of the popular products from the Youth XTend range. The makeup artist also matched my skin tone to a shade from the foundation collection, and I must say, she did a pretty good job. I didn’t look like my face was caked with makeup.
When we left, we got our drawings and some of the Youth XTend range to try for ourselves. In a way, it takes the pressure off me to go and find products that suit my skin type. I’m quite excited to try it out. Thanks Amway for the huge goodie bag!
