On 1 June 2015 Unilever launched brightFuture in South Africa.
Now they are showcasing young South African Leaders, like Thato Kgatlhanye, co-founder and CEO of Rethaka, a company that creates the Repurpose Schoolbag. Made from recycled plastic, the schoolbag includes a solar panel that charges while kids walk to school and transforms into a study light by night.
I received one of these bags and absolutely love the idea behind it – it empowers children to create their own resource the help them study. Next time I head out to Pretoria I will take it with to give to a child in need.
Unilever wants your help to create a brightFuture for South Africa. Whether it’s by sharing the video and story above with friends, boosting the self-esteem of young women or making a donation to a food bank, we are all constantly provided with opportunities to make a difference. Share the stories of young leaders who are creating a brighter future in our country, and demonstrate the big impact that small actions make.
