Doppio Zero has launched their 2017 Summer Menu, and it’s a treat you do not want to miss. I recently had the extreme pleasure of tasting some of the yumminess you can find at your nearest branch. So without too much waffling, here are some of the must-haves.
Tapas
I tried the pulled pork taco and it was deeeeelish!
This was very popular. The feta spreads like a dream on the lightly toasted ciabatta, and the hint of sweet from the jam-washed pastry balances the salty cheese perfectly.
So here’s something you should know about me. I have a strong aversion to any kind of meat on the bone, but none more so than chicken wings. Enter the Doppio Wings. Watch me polish off two – I know to some that might not seem like a lot, but for me, that’s saying something. I’ll definitely have these again.
I may be the only person in the universe that doesn’t like edamame beans. Or ginger. Chilli. Soy. And it took me a very long time to see the appeal of halloumi. That said, I’d have all of the everything on this plate again. Ok, except the edamame.
Mains
I could’ve very easily eaten all of this on my own, and probably ask for seconds. This was my favourite. It’s the best of all worlds – a salad masquerading as actual food.
We also had some pasta. I have to tell you about this, and if your imagination isn’t good enough to picture it, best you get yourself to your nearest Doppio Zero and try it out for yourself. Mind you, go to Doppio Zero anyway.
Pasta Verde (with penne): olive oil, garlic, chilli, rocket pesto, pine nuts and goats cheese. I’m drooling just thinking about it again. There was another pasta dish, but by this time the carb-delirium set in and I was just happy. Try them all – you are sure to find one that gives you that feeling of euphoria.
Dessert
Here I have let you down again, dear reader. While I can absolutely recommend the cinnamon sugar apple fries served with caramel mascarpone, and the beignets with chocolate and caramel sauce (having more than one helping of both), the only picture I have is of the Tiramisu pannacotta.
