Have you discovered Glenda’s?

I was recently invited to dinner at Glenda’s – a current favourite among Jo’burg foodies, located in Hyde Square on Jan Smuts Avenue.

The interior is bright and cheerful. As you enter the “Dotty Choux” is on your right – this is where you can grab a cup of coffee and a fresh treat, baked on-site. Further in you can hop onto a seat at the bar, or sit down at a table to dig into the delicious fare.

The food

As a little welcome snack we were served cheesy choux puffs – I could’ve eaten those all night! They were light, a little peppery, and very cheesy (because all the best things are).

Other highlights of the evening included the perfectly crispy salt-and-pepper calamari, as well as the seared salmon starter. For mains I had the roast pork belly. Keeping in mind that dessert was still ahead, I didn’t manage to quite finish this.

The butterscotch pudding served with homemade ice cream was a sweet end to the meal.
