A makeup brand with the name MUD – yes, I’ll admit I was a little hesitant to check this out. Turns out, it’s just an acronym for “Make-Up Designory”: an internationally renowned professional makeup brand that began in the US. I took a closer look at the range at the first Beauty and Wellbeing Expo at Gallagher Estate in October.
Brenda Botha, owner of MUD South Africa, has a passion for the beauty industry that comes across when you chat to her about MUD and makeup trends (such as high-definition applications and what sets HD makeup apart from the rest).
The MUD range of palettes (which can be customised with your personal combination of favourite colours) and professional makeup brushes, will help even beauty-challenged girlies like me to achieve a rather pretty look.
Brenda has a vision to have a MUD Showroom, distribution centre, and training facility in each major province across the country in the next two years – and she is well on her way to achieving that!
I have tried MUD’s Shimmer eye colour in “Vineyard” – a rich plum colour that applies smoothly and lasts the whole day. I’m looking for an opportunity to try a more intense look by using it with water.
The “Sandy Beach” sheer lipstick in my press pack is a little too light for my liking, but still, my poor chapped lips felt soft and pretty after an application of this – even long after the lipstick wore off (not a long-lasting lippy this).
MUD offers a huge range of products and colours, and promises quality, long-lasting wearability, flawless application, and radiantly accurate colour. You don’t have to be a makeup professional to benefit from these products, just be passionate about beauty – MUD will give you the tools to achieve it.
