Chameleon gin: Trouvaille Blossom and Hops

Trouvaille Blossom and Hops gin is unlike any other gin (yes, I know this is true of every gin, but hear me out).

I actually had the delightful opportunity to try this at the recent Johannesburg launch of The Gin Box. The thing that truly stood out for me, is the fact that a traditional beer ingredient was used in creating this gin. Tim James (half of the distilling due, along with Teresa) spent years as a home brewer, before starting to experiment with a pot still.
But let’s start with the basics.

Trouvaille Blossom and Hops

Origin: Cape Town
Volume: 750ml
ABV: 43%

Hello again, Hope on Hopkins, where the 12 carefully selected botanicals are suspended in a cane spirit for at least 12 hours. Of course, that’s just the start of the creation process.

Blossom and Hops gin can be enjoyed on its own over ice, but the chameleon-quality of this gin comes out when you mix it with your favourite tonic, paired with fresh citrus, rosemary, cucumber, green olives, apple, mint, thyme or passion fruit.

Meet your favourite Blossom and Hops

  • To bring out the floral notes of this gin, pair with Fitch and Leeds tonic and garnish with the fresh citrus of your choice.
  • For a refreshing summer cocktail with a gentle finish, add a sprig of rosemary and top off with Goldberg and Sons tonic.
  • Tease out the hoppy notes with Barker and Quin tonic, finished with sliver of cucumber.
