Syllable is affiliated to Doppio Zero and their social media agency.
Every year Doppio Zero encourages its patrons to participate in the Wish Tree initiative. Every branch of Doppio Zero will have a tree with pledge-a-gift cards. Each card has the name and age of a child who will benefit from this project. This year the aim is to provide 1 200 gifts to children. Each gift will consist of a backpack, a stationery pack, and a toy.
How to pledge to Wish Tree
Next time you visit a Doppio Zero, select a card from the tree. You can pay for it with your bill at the end of your meal, or at the cashier if you’re only popping in to pick up some baked goods. A pledge is R180, and aside from spreading some joy to a child in need, you will receive a Wish Tree keyring that entitles you to a free coffee during December or January, at any Doppio Zero restaurant.
What happens with the Wish Tree pledges?
Early in 2018 Doppio Zero will visit various schools that benefit from the initiative, to hand out the gifts, and provide lunch to the children and teachers.
Who benefits from Wish Tree?
Doppio Zero is supporting three schools this year.
Thuto Bokamoso Primary School in Randfontein
An underprivileged school educating some 400 children between the ages of five and 13. The school prides itself of allowing each child to grow and develop emotionally while providing a loving nurturing environment regardless of what financial situation they may find themselves in at home.
Vulamazibuko School in Soweto
The school started primarily with older children from the community, with learners from Grade 5 to Grade 8, but it’s recently introduced Grade R and Grade 1 to the ever-growing number of children who need to be educated.
Zakhele Primary School in Pretoria
A school filled with fun and sharing, where even though the outlook isn’t always one of happiness, pulling together and supporting each other with a smile and helping hand, can brighten any situation.
So share in the spirit of giving, and pledge your R180 to the Doppio Zero Wish Tree today.
