The Perfect Cup – the perfect way to start a Saturday

The wonderful people at Zomato recently gave me a voucher to The Perfect Cup in Parkview. I love how they (the Zomato-ites) always introduce me to places I haven’t been to before.

So on Saturday morning, I decided to treat myself and my neighbour, Pam, to breakfast at The Perfect Cup. Situated below street level in a little corner, you will find this cosy coffee shop with seating both inside and out. As their name suggests, coffee is their business, and you can buy plungers, travel mugs, the cutest little espresso cups, beans or your fresh grounds from them. There’s also the added bonus of live music on a Saturday morning between 10 – 12, and I will not lie to you, I enjoyed the view – and the music, of course – from where I was sitting ;).

The menu offers breakfast, sandwiches and cake, as well as the option to have your sandwich presented as a jaffle instead. I love that idea, and despite not having had a jaffle in ages, I decided to have the full breakfast – eggs, bacon, mince/baked beans, tomato, toast – for a steal at only R47!

Another great item on the menu is the coffee; not just because it is their speciality, but because it includes two refills. If you want a treat on a limited budget, this is definitely a spot to consider.

The atmosphere is warm and friendly, with family and friends meeting up, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and take care of each person there as if they were a VIP member.

Zomato has also kindly given me a voucher to The Perfect Cup to give away to one lucky reader. If you don’t win this, however, you can still visit The Perfect Cup, write a review about them on Zomato, and receive a cinnamon-sugar pancake and cup of tea/coffee on the house.

To stand a chance to win the voucher, valued at R100, join Zomato (you can download their nifty app or visit their website), follow me (I’ll follow you back), and leave a comment telling me what a jaffle is. If the username you’re using on Zomato is not the same as the one you’re using to leave a comment, please just include that too, so I know to add you to the entries.

  • The competition closes at noon on Friday 7 March, and the winner will be announced following a random draw later during that day
  • The voucher is valid until 31 March 2014
  • This competition is only open to readers in Johannesburg and surrounding areas

Have a great week!

A jaffle is a circular toasted sarmie, of sorts, where two pieces of bread are stuffed with fillings and then toasted in a jaffle iron. Yum.
