Slipper Day 2026: Cosy Feet, Big Hearts, Life-Changing Dreams

Reach for a Dream Slipper Day 2026

There are few things better than slipping into your comfiest slippers and knowing you are doing something genuinely meaningful at the same time. That is exactly what makes Reach For A Dream’s Slipper Day such a special event on South Africa’s calendar. On 29 May 2026, people across the country will once again swap formal shoes for fluffy favourites in support of children living with serious or life-threatening illnesses.

This year is especially significant, as Slipper Day marks 15 years of bringing South Africans together through kindness, comfort, and a shared sense of purpose. The campaign’s goal for 2026 is a bold and inspiring one: to raise R15 million to help make dreams come true for brave children undergoing difficult medical treatment.

A fundraiser with heart and a whole lot of fluff

Since 2011, Slipper Day has become Reach For A Dream’s cosiest annual fundraiser, encouraging people of all ages to wear their slippers with pride while supporting a cause that changes lives. It is fun, visible, and wonderfully simple, but behind the cheerful slippers is a deeply important mission.

Reach For A Dream has been creating moments of hope since 1988, and over the years the Foundation has fulfilled almost 30,000 dreams for children facing serious illnesses. These dreams are not just exciting experiences. They are moments of light during some of the darkest and most difficult times a child and their family may face.

A dream might be meeting a celebrity hero, flying in a plane, or spending a day as a vet. Whatever the dream may be, the impact reaches far beyond that one magical moment. Each dream creates a ripple effect of joy that touches families, caregivers, medical teams, and entire communities.

The fuzzy facts that make this year even more fun

At the centre of this year’s campaign is a playful concept called Fuzzy Facts. These are quirky, believable claims about slippers that may be tricky to prove, but they definitely bring a smile.

For example, did you know that wearing slippers improves your mood by 61%? Or that slippers boost productivity by 47%? Can anyone prove it? Maybe not. But honestly, it feels true. There is just something about warm, cosy feet that makes the world seem a little friendlier.

What is absolutely true, however, is that Slipper Day helps raise essential funds to fulfil dreams for children fighting serious illnesses every single day. And that is a fact worth holding onto.

Why dreams matter so much

For children living with conditions such as cancer, organ failure, and heart conditions, life can become filled with hospital visits, treatment schedules, fear, and uncertainty. In the middle of all that, a dream fulfilled can offer joy, hope, motivation, and something beautiful to hold onto.

Reach For A Dream fulfils an average of seven dreams every day across South Africa. In 2025 alone, 2,510 dreams were fulfilled. That is 2,510 moments of excitement, courage, and emotional uplift for children and their loved ones.

Speaking at the campaign launch, Reach For A Dream CEO Julia Sotirianakos said:

“This is our 15th year of bringing South Africans together for Slipper Day, inspiring kindness and cosiness in solidarity of children facing life-threatening illnesses. This year we aim to raise R15 million to make dreams come true for the brave children who spend their time receiving treatment in hospitals.”

That message captures exactly what Slipper Day is all about. It is not only about wearing slippers. It is about standing in solidarity with children who are fighting battles most of us cannot imagine.

A dream come true can change everything

One of the most moving reminders of the Foundation’s impact came from 18-year-old Zinokhanyo Nyangule, whose dream of being on TV was recently fulfilled. Her story is both heartbreaking and uplifting.

She shared that she has had cancer three times, and that her journey has been far from easy. When Reach For A Dream asked what her dream was, she said she wanted to be on TV, and they made it happen.

Her words say it all:

“Reach For A Dream has done a lot for me, more than I can imagine. I’ve had cancer three times and it hasn’t been an easy journey.”

“They asked me what my dream is and said I want to be on TV and they made it happen. That showed me that dreaming is important.”

That is the real power behind Slipper Day. It reminds children that their dreams still matter, even in the middle of illness, fear, and treatment. It tells them they are seen, supported, and celebrated.

Do it for the Dreamers and get rewarded

This year, getting involved comes with a few extra perks too. When you buy a Slipper Day sticker and scan the barcode, you stand a chance to win a share of R2 million in prizes.

These prizes include treats and goodies such as data, Wimpy ice creams and waffles, Nu Metro movie tickets, Food Lovers vouchers, Crazy Store rubber ducks, Biogen products, Crocs, and Krispy Kreme doughnuts. It is a fun way to add a little extra excitement to an already meaningful campaign.

There is also a delicious reward waiting on the big day itself. If you wear your sticker and slippers on 29 May, you can redeem a free Famous Coffee or a short hot chocolate at Wimpy. Not bad for doing a good deed in fluffy footwear.

Where to get your Slipper Day sticker

Getting involved is easy. Slipper Day stickers are available from 13 April to 29 May at the following stores nationwide:

  • Wimpy
  • Dis-Chem Pharmacies
  • Baby City
  • Crocs
  • Crazy Store
  • Toys R Us
  • Babies R Us
  • Krispy Kreme

For those who prefer to shop online, virtual stickers and themed slippers can also be purchased from the Reach For A Dream online store. Schools and corporates can place bulk sticker orders, which will be delivered by The Courier Guy.

That means there is really no excuse not to join in. Whether you are a learner, teacher, office worker, parent, or business owner, there is a simple way to take part.

More than a sticker

It is easy to look at a Slipper Day sticker and see just a small item. But in reality, it represents something much bigger. Reach For A Dream promises that 100% of the proceeds from sticker sales go towards fulfilling the dreams of children fighting illness every day.

That is what makes this campaign so powerful. A small act from one person can contribute to an unforgettable moment for a child who needs hope. One sticker can help fund one dream. One dream can lift a child’s spirit. And one moment of joy can have a lasting impact on an entire family.

Put your best slipper forward

Slipper Day 2026 is more than a fun excuse to wear fluffy footwear in public. It is a national reminder that kindness can be simple, joyful, and deeply powerful. It is a chance to laugh at fuzzy facts, enjoy a hot chocolate, and maybe even win a prize, all while helping children with serious illnesses experience moments of wonder and hope.

So on 29 May 2026, pull on your slippers, wear your sticker proudly, and do it for the dreamers. Because while fuzzy facts may be hard to prove, this much is certain: dreams matter.
