A mere 45 minutes from Sandton a little slice of heaven is located on the 16-hectare Kievits Kroon Country Estate.
I was invited to experience Kievits Kroon’s spa facilities with a friend, for two hours of spa treatments, a delicious lunch, and full use of the spa’s thermal facilities.
After Google Maps sent us on a little detour, we arrived at the breath-taking tree-lined entrance and were directed to the spa. While filling out our consultation forms we enjoyed some of the great coffee and iced tea on offer, before spa manager Melissa gave us the quick tour.
Prior to, after, and between treatments, guests are invited to relax in the quiet room – a quiet, dimly lit room with day beds. Guests are also encouraged to use the heated indoor pool, Jacuzzis, saunas and steam rooms at their leisure. They also have a designated women-only area with these facilities.
The lockers are stocked with fluffy slippers and plush micro-fibre lined gowns, as well as a towel for use around the facilities.
We chose the “Grapefruit and Orange Bliss”, which consisted of a 60-minute Ayurvedic full body massage, followed by a detoxifying body wrap and an express facial. Stepping out of the shower after rinsing off the clay from the wrap, I could not believe that two hours had gone by! I felt relaxed and my skin pampered.
Lunch was just as great as our treatments. The best part of these gourmet dishes were the portion size, so we didn’t feel guilty after indulging in three courses. Looking out over the lawn we also noticed a few people having picnics in the shade of the magnificent trees on the grounds.
Thanks again for the spa team at Kievits Kroon; we had such a great time, and I’m definitely putting an overnight stay and return visit to the spa on my birthday wish list.
