Almost three weeks ago my beauty routine (or complete lack thereof), was rebooted. Dermalogica sent me some of their brand new precleanse wipes: two of my favourite things – cleansing wipes and Dermalogica – in one sleek package; how cool!

If you’re not familiar with the precleanse, it is an oil-based cleanser that prepares your skin for a proper deep-down deep cleanse with your usual skin-type/condition-based cleanser, without leaving your skin feeling tight or tingly.

The biodegradable (not to be flushed) wipes melt away layers of excess sebum (oil), sunscreen, waterproof makeup, environmental pollutants, and residual products that build up on your skin throughout the day. Adding a few drops of water to your skin afterwards, will transform this hydrophilic formula into a milky emulsion that easily rinses debris from the skin’s surface, allowing your usual cleanser to penetrate even further for professional cleansing results. You can even add a tiny bit of water to your wipe before use to create the emulsion.

The wipes are suitable for all skin types, including oily skin with the risk of breakout, because it helps to remove congestion and allows your cleanser to work more effectively.

Formulated with skin-softening Aloe and Apricot oils, conditioning Rice Bran and Vitamin E, this gentle blend can also be used around the eye area to remove waterproof mascara. Seeing as mascara is the one makeup product I use most often, I was impressed at how easily it was removed with just a few gentle sweeps of the wipe – more effective than any makeup remover or cleansing wipe I’ve used before.

The conditioning essential fatty acids nourish your skin, and the wipes contain no artificial fragrances, colours, or parabens. The natural ingredients lend a soothing scent to the wipes, so your mind and your skin is calmed.

I had a bit of a battle to open the tab the first time, but considered that a plus; the tab also seals better than any other wipe product I’ve used before, and ensures the wipes don’t dry out.
