I am delighted and devastated do have found possibly the most incredible spa in Johannesburg. In Boksburg. That is the better part of 30 kilometres from my house, and the commute is not exactly relaxing.
But Urban Glow Spa was named the South African Professional Beauty Awards 2014 winner of Day Spa of the Year, and they truly deserve it.
It has been years since I enjoyed the divine pleasure of floating, and I was delighted that my complimentary Dermalogica facial included 30minutes of weightless, salty relaxation.
I’ve used Demalogica before, but these days it doesn’t quite suit my budget, so I indulged in the delicious luxury at the attentive fingertips of Spa Manager Onele.
Urban Glow Spa has several colour-themed treatment rooms, of which one is a double room. Each room also has a shower (two in the double room), so if you’re there for a body treatment and feel shy about sharing the locker room, you can shower in the quiet privacy of your treatment room, before wrapping up in the plush robe and fluffy slippers. The spa also has a mani/pedi corner.
Rubber ducks seem to be the leading theme at the spa, with all sizes and colours on display, and it adds an element of fun.
They also have room where clients can relax between treatments and where lunch is served.
While I was napping under my mask, the spa hosted a party of women in the rest of the spa. If you’re keen for a girls day out, organise a shuttle and get to Urban Glow.
My time at Urban Glow Spa was without a doubt the highlight of a pretty spectacular weekend. Thanks to Dermalogica for inviting me to experience this distant gem, and thanks to Onele for treating me like absolute royalty. I’m already contemplating an overnight stay in the east to accommodate another visit 😉
Book yourself in for a relaxing special: Mondays to Wednesdays a 30-minute band and neck massage is only R120.
