What are you grateful for?

We so often spend so much time and energy focusing on the things we don’t have. And despite all my (frequent) intentions to keep a gratitude journal (and not for a lack of notebooks) it never becomes an actual thing.

So I’m just going to jot down a few things that I’m truly blessed to have. And this is by no means a complete list – not even close!

My health – both physical and mental. Some days either or both seem to be failing me in various degrees, but for the most part, it’s amazing to be alive.
My living standards – I really hoped to be in a position to buy a house this year, but that’s not meant to be. I do, however, rent a flat in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg, my car is all paid up and, considering its age, gives me very little problems; I belong to medical aid and can take care of my mom by having her as a dependant on my health plan; I never need to go hungry; I can kind of afford rainbow hair; I can buy magazines.
My people – the people who really matter are few but truly cherished. My mom, nephew, and Grant are the obvious blessings, but I don’t tell any of my people that I love them often enough.

What are you grateful for?
