Love your life by Sophie Kinsella is a title sent to me by the wonderful people over at Penguin Random House.
I’m probably the only Sophie Kinsella fan who hasn’t read the full Shopaholic series. I’ve read the first one and hope to read the rest soon, but I have so many books, so little time!
Ok, so I wanted to love this book a lot more than I did. I both loved and hated the characters. I felt it was a little predictable. I actually liked his friends more than hers. The part I disliked the most was the writing retreat – it was so unrealistic! The family meeting and sauna was quite relatable and I didn’t hate that. Once Ava returned from Italy the second time I felt less dislike for the characters, so at least there is significant character development. I suppose the end wasn’t entirely dreadful, but I wasn’t really sad when I closed the back cover.
Oh, and the dog! I love dogs. But Harold didn’t seem like a very likeable dog. So yes, not my favourite Sophie Kinsella. I don’t regret reading it, for what it’s worth. It’s a decent book if you’re looking for something easy from a writer you know knows her stuff.
